STARTED WIRELESS SIGNALING SYSTEM IN PALILULA

At the crossroad next Palilula ramp, President of City Municipality of Palilula, Prof. Dr Igor Novakovic, put in operation a wireless signaling system which will greatly make easy traffic in this part of the city. This project it is work of students of Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Nis who designed this system within program “Partnership for Education and Development of Community” supported and financed by company “Philip Morris”. Students says that it was hard working on this project, especially on the installations of whole system, which in last two weeks conducted in cooperation with PUE “Gorica” and ED “Jugoistok”. In the presence of project team, mentor of the project, docent Dr Zoran Djurdjevic, Secretary of Assembly Ivan Jovanovic, Head of Municipal Administration Bojan Ilic, representatives of competent Administration of the City and public-utility enterprises it was demonstrated mode of this system. “On this crossroad we have six red and green displays which have dual function. In the moment when the train does not pass shows red and green light, apropos how much it is take. For example, if they see that it is red more then 30 seconds, drivers can turn off its vehicle and in that way save fuel and do something for environment. In the moment when the train passes, display shows how much it is left until passing train – explained Valentino Nikolic, leader of the project team of the students. According to Nikolic, on the surrounding crossroads , next Svetinikolska Church in Bozidarceva Street, Street Stanoja Bunusevca, next square Ucitelj Tasa and in the Street Vojvode Gojka, are set white displays, which turns on only when the train passes and shows time for which train will pass. Drivers on this places, knowing that in ramp is deadlock, can choose alternative directions and in this way to reduce traffic jam. Beside, it was worked and on safety of trains using ultrasonic sensors, and it was set 12 IVR for blind and visually impaired citizens. This is first wireless system of signalization managing in Nis. Project costs about two million RSD, and advantage of this kind of the system is that can be easily dismantled and set in other place, for example in case of replacement of track. From City Municipality of Palilula says that this is really great project and for the municipality and for whole city. “This activity, synergy of local self government and civil society I can extract as example of good practice and cooperation in region. This students are active citizens in the true sense. Its knowledge and effort they implemented in this system, this is its handiwork, which is ended of course with our and help of competent public enterprises of the city. I sincerely thank them. This kind of the people are required to our city and we must keep them to stay here- said Prof. Dr Igor Novakovic, President of Palilula Municipality. Beside City Municipality of Palilula this project is ended with support of Administration for Communal Services, Energy and Traffic, Directorate for City Land Development, PUE “Gorica” – Sector Signalization and City Municipality of Medijana.
